One of several condos lining the shores of Half Moon Bay, this small complex on the beach has cozy one- and two-bedroom units with tile kitchens, baths, and [bedroom] air-conditioning. Riviera Maya, Mexico: Located in Akumal, a small seaside community 70 miles south of the Cancun airport, the Hacienda de la Tortuga and Suites sits on gorgeous Half Moon Bay. The 16 unit condo-style complex features bright and breezy one- and two-bedroom suites, each with a well-furnished kitchen, Mexican decor and original artwork. An intimate restaurant is on the premises and several others are within walking distance. Active guests have no trouble keeping busy here. Snorkelers can dive in right in front of the building; wildlife watchers will find turtles nesting a reliable attraction during the summer months; and history buffs can head for the Maya ruins of Tulum, just a 20 minutes drive away.
